See, this was a good.
Jazz night at the Museum to Battle of the Smithsonian’s, a 2009 comedy film, it’s indeed the sequel to the first night at the Museum. It’s once again directed by Shawn Levy. And the plot this time around is we see once again Ben Stiller as this guy, Larry, who no longer works as a security guard at this museum. No, he’s stepped up in the world. He had this idea even in the first movie they talked about this, where he had all of these crazy and wacky inventions. But this time he actually took him somewhere. It panned out. And he has his own business. He he makes good money now. And one day he goes back to the museum to find out that it’s pretty much closing down and they’re moving all of the items to a different museum. And so Ben Stiller basically not only tries to figure out a way to save these items, but once they’re there and he realizes that that tablet that brings them all to life is there as well, he has to go there and stop the tablet from being used by the wrong people. Now, what I think of the museum, too, is I like this movie. I do. I actually think I like this one better than the first movie, not because I think it’s like technically a better film.
I mean, I think the first movie was a lot more grounded and had a lot more maybe heart behind it. But this film, I think is funnier. And I think that there is a lot more crazy and wacky stuff going on here. First of all, Ben Stiller, I like the subtle changes that they’ve done with this character. He’s not nearly as pathetic as it was before. I liked the little moments. It’s not huge, but little moments of him sort of being caught up in his new business ventures. So maybe he hasn’t shown enough appreciation for this museum and everything that’s going on with it. I even like the whole idea of the museum being on hard times, because when I think about it. Yeah. How many people do you know nowadays that go to museums just for fun? I mean, sure, people do it. I’m not saying they don’t, but you just especially since I was a kid, as a kid, I used to love to go to the museum now, couldn’t care less. So it made sense that nowadays this would be a thing that they would harp on.
It is funny, though, that this is going on at the beginning of this movie, where at the end of the first film, it seemed like the museum was flourishing, I guess not so much. And some of the actors that we see, Ricky Jarvis, is back. Obviously, Robin Williams is also back. Steve Coogan and Owen Wilson are both back. And I even liked Owen Wilson a lot more in this film than I did the first movie. A lot of funny bits with some new actors, though. We have Hank Azaria, who he had a lot of funny bits in this movie, and Bill Hader, who he just always makes me laugh. Jon Bernthal, who I’ve seen this movie before, but watching it kind of like, holy crap, Shane from The Walking Dead was in this movie as Al Capone, no less. Wow. Wow. And then Jonah Hill, who probably possibly has the funniest scene in this movie, it had me laughing out loud, pretty hard. If this was back when Jonah Hill, I think, was at his best with his improvising. And then you even had random characters, not just actors, but rhythm characters like Oscar the Grouch was in this movie.
Why? I don’t know. But he was there and it was random, but kind of funny.
And then Darth Vader. Yes, because this is a Disney movie. And by this point, Disney had bought Star Wars. So they own the characters. They own the property. So they could not wait but to use the character. And they did. And that was a little too random. But I guess, hey, I don’t mind seeing Darth Vader whenever I can get the chance, but I should mention one other character because she’s a big part of this film. Amy Adams, who plays Amelia Earhart, who was this famous pilot. And I like Amy Adams. I do. She’s gorgeous. And she’s just one of my favorite actors around. But I remember at the time, it’s been a while, but I remember when this movie first came out, people saying that they thought her character was really annoying and they just didn’t like her. They couldn’t get into her being there, especially because I admit she is in the movie a lot. But still, I didn’t mind that I really liked her here. I thought she was funny when she had to be, but she was also Kate. And there’s a certain amount of sassiness sexiness to her character, she was totally kind of trying to be flirtatious with Ben Stiller.
For some reason, he’s not reciprocating, maybe because at the end of the day, she’s not a real person. She’s like a wax figure that is at the moment alive. Sure. Maybe that’s a little weird, but still, I probably myself wouldn’t be able to turn her down. And another thing is that this film takes place over the course of one night, which is very different from the first movie. The first movie was several nights of this whole thing happening. This is just one night. So it does feel a little bit bigger in the plot and what is going on. And also just I guess you want to see the urgency of everything? I don’t know. There’s something about it that I was a little more into. So night at the museum Battle of the Smithsonian. Again, I think I do like it more than the first movie, more so because it just it made me laugh more so guys, that we me on the comments below. If you’ve seen the sequel tonight at the museum, what do you think of it? Thanks for watching. Like comit subscribe later.
