Full-text transcript of the review of Night at the Museum

This night at the museum is the 2006 comedy film that was directed by Shawn Levy, and it’s based off of a children’s book which honestly, I had no idea that that was the case until I watched this and then looked up that, wow, the things you find out, the plot of the movie is we see Ben Stiller, who stars as this guy, Larry, who he’s he has a bit of bad luck. You could say he got a divorce from his wife and he has a 10 year old son that he’s trying to see every chance he can, but he can’t keep a job. He’s constantly having to move. So he gets a job as a night guard at a museum. What he doesn’t know is that every single night, everything at the museum comes to life. And if that wasn’t enough, somebody is trying to steal the tablet that enables this to happen. So it all just blows up in his face. Now, what I thought of night at the museum is I like this movie. I do. I mean, I love it. It’s not like it’s on a film that I always go to watch. But I will say that there are a lot of things I like about it. And it’s a children’s movie. So I got to remember that now. Ben Stiller, I like him here. It’s his least over the top that he’s been obviously besides like a serious movie that he does.

But as far as comedies go, he’s a lot toned down. And sure, personally, I do like him better when he is an over-the-top character. But I mean, when he does play a regular guy in comedies, it’s usually so exaggerated. He’s usually the most pathetic guy you’ve ever seen with this movie. It’s like, yeah, he has bad luck, but it’s not so over the top in your face. He’s going through some real and relatable issues, seeing him wanting to provide and do Best Buy his son. But it’s just it’s not really working out. You feel for him. And when he goes to the museum to get this job, we see Dick Van Dyke. Yes. Dick Van Dyke, who’s old as hell, Bill Cobbs and Mickey Rooney, who the three of these guys. It was very cool to see him see them in here, Mickey Rooney, especially because he’s just the angry little guy who is I wouldn’t want to mess with him. I’m just saying. And then the other characters we have, Ricky Gervais, who was probably the funniest thing to me in this movie. He is the museum director who is pretty much an asshole. He is. But his ongoing joke was that he would try to say something clever, try to say something funny, witty. And we all know that Ricky Gervais, for the most part, can’t do that in real life. But it’s funny to where he tries to say something.

He tries to quote something, but he can never quite get it right or it’s always awkward coming out of his mouth. And just those awkward scenes with him just always made me laugh. Rob Williams, who plays Teddy Roosevelt and I like Robin Williams in here, he he, too, had one of the most serious, serious. But I guess the parts that you can latch on to, the fact that he was attracted to Sacagawea. This this Indian girl. And I don’t know, I just I like seeing Rob Williams in here. We have Steve Coogan, who he represents a bunch of the little toys that come to life. So there are a bunch of little people and they they have this this feud, I guess, going on with Owen Wilson in his group, and I should mention over Wilson here, because, first of all, he’s uncredited, which is kind of weird because he’s one of the big characters far as the museum goes. I just don’t understand why they don’t credit him. But some of my friends don’t like Owen Wilson and but I like him. I think he’s funny. I think he’s a decent actor, but they don’t like they think that he’s just he comes off either cocky or he’s just he’s too good. And he does play those arrogant type characters. And he’s not necessarily playing that here. But I feel like I noticed those characteristics in this movie for some reason a lot with him.

So he he didn’t really make me laugh as much as I would like to say. And there’s a monkey in this movie and I don’t. Like monkeys I don’t like in general, and even in movies, they just they don’t they’re always used up for comedy and they never really make me laugh. This monkey wasn’t as annoying as it could have been, just the one scene where he pees all over Ben Stiller. You kind of just sit there and go, oh, really? This is a kid’s movie. Do we have to resort to a monkey peeing on him? One thing that is in this movie that I just love is the T-Rex statue, the bones. I love it. You could say it’s because my love, my fascination for dinosaurs. So sure, I’m a sucker for that. But even the fact that the T-Rex is the first reveal of what this museum is and I just I like the way Ben Stiller plays with that in the chase scene and playing fetch with him. It’s not like I’m not sitting there laughing all the way through, but I recognize it’s for kids. And I bet you kids like this a lot more. Anyways, guys, let me know in the comments below. If you’ve seen that at the museum, what do you think of it? Do you like it? Thanks for watching. Like comment. Subscribe later.
