Full text transcript of Deadpool 2 movie review

Welcome, we love comics more than I want Matt Reeves to officially announce who will be playing Batman in his film. I’m your host, Eres Congonhas. As everyone knows, Deadpool two hits theaters this weekend, and I saw it last night, meaning it’s time to give you guys my spoiler free review. For those of you who are like, dang it, I want to hear your spoiler review of the movie. Fret not. I’ll be giving you my spoiler thoughts this Monday on Variant Live, so be sure to tune in for that. And before I get into anything else, let me also say it’s all the parents of young kids in the audience. As is always the case with Deadpool, this movie is very rated R with plenty of extreme violence, bad language and sexual content. So do with that info what you will with that said. My initial reaction to Deadpool too, is I thought it was awesome. I liked it just as much as the first one. I know a lot of people liked it more than the first one, but for me it’s on par, which is still great because the first movie was great. The reason I didn’t like it more than the first Deadpool, and I guess these are my gripes is because I didn’t think it was as well paced and structured as the first movie. I also have another minor gripe, which I can’t say because it’s a spoiler.

But I will say, although I thought the part was freaking hilarious, I was like, how are you going to do that? Just watch my favorite live if you want to know what I’m referring to. Also, the kid Russell, a firefights was hit and miss for me.

Sometimes he was funny. Other times he kind of annoyed me. So overall, I thought his character was very much just OK. With that said, those are my only real gripes with the movie because a movie like this, you’re not really going to see an Oscar winning performance or story. You’re just going for a fun superhero action comedy. And boy, does this movie deliver on that, which is why even though I didn’t think the pacing was as good as the first one, the sheer amount of action and hilarity of this film makes it even out for me and puts it on par with the first Deadpool movie. That’s right. The comedy in action in this film is on steroids like they took it to another level. The opening title sequence had the song Ashes from Celine Dion and it was brilliant. I was almost crying. I was laughing so hard. All the pop culture references and digs that other superhero movies are genius like that bit from the trailers. When Deadpool says to cable, that’s so dark. Are you sure you’re not from the DC Universe? Stuff like that is just the tip of the iceberg.

The comedy all around is amazing, and the fact that Deadpool breaks the fourth wall constantly only makes it better. And can I just say Ryan Reynolds was born to play Deadpool like he’s defined the character on the big screen, much like Robert Downey Jr. has to find Iron Man on the big screen. Josh Brolin as cable was also fantastic. The CGI for his arm look nuts and he was a complete badass. This year is just a crazy year for him because he’s also Thanos and Infinity War, which is also in theaters. So he’s in theaters twice right now. A sonic warhead was great. Colossus was hilarious. I absolutely loved his relationship with Deadpool. Domino was cool. It was really fun to see her powers used in live action because her power is good. Look, so things just tend to go her way. I’m going to save talking about shooting star bedlam in the rest of the exports, as well as a character that wasn’t advertised in any of the trailers for Monday for spoiler reasons. For everyone who’s seen the movie, you know exactly what I’m talking about. As for the action in this movie, it’s pretty much non-stop. Oddly enough, at some points, the way the action was shot and looked kind of gave me that 80 sci fi action vibe like Robocop or Total Recall.

Obviously, it was more modern, but it gave me that vibe. I don’t know, maybe I’m alone in that. But it’s a plus for me either way. Basically what I’m saying is this film is a ton of fun. Like I said, the action was great. It’s also one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a while, especially if you’re a big comic fan. There’s also a lot of jokes only exports and comic fans will get. But the surprising thing about this movie is the amount of heart it has with a good message buried underneath all that comedy and action. The last thing I’m going to say until Monday is make sure to stay for the end credits scene. It happens like two minutes after the movie ends rather than at the very end of the credits. But my God, it’s one of the best and credit scenes I’ve ever seen. Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool is a national treasure. But with that said, my comic Conrads, make sure you follow us on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and go to our website links for all that are in the description below. And if you like the channel, be sure to subscribe in the next week. So you’re notified whenever we upload a new video. But I’ll see you next time when I talk about all things comics.
