What are you doing, honey? Where’s my supervisor going to come? Where is my secret? Right. It’s fine, but where’s my sister? All right. That joke is like 15 years old. It’s no one thing. It’s why you cannot keep doing it. Really.

All right, fine. OK, whatever.

Ok, well, I’m assuming you saw The Apprentice, too, so, you know, what are your thoughts on it. Oh.

Hey, everyone, it’s Kirsten Rundquist, and today we’re going to be talking about The Incredibles two, The Incredibles two has been one of my most anticipated films of the year of the years, really ever since the it was originally announced a few years ago. I’ve been waiting and waiting for this film. There’s a lot of you know, The Original Incredibles is one of my favorite films of all time. It is perfect for children. I think it’s perfect for adults. I just think it’s one of the best movies ever. I could go on for for a very long time about that movie. But if you want to hear more, just go to my channel and check out the video I did on it. I went into this thing very excited, but with low expectations, because as a lot of you know, I think that Pixar has been going downhill as of recent, specifically with their sequels. You look at films like Monsters University and Finding Dory. I don’t even really need to explain the Cars films. And they all just seemed like they’re trying really, really hard to be a bigger thing to compete with the original movie. They’re trying really hard to also make you cry. And when they try to do that, it just comes off as really cheesy and forgettable and just just not great. So that being said, I was really scared because, as you know, The Incredibles, one of my favorite films of all time, had the potential of getting ruined with this new movie.

But I ended up seeing it. And my thoughts are it’s actually pretty good. Yeah, that’s right. I actually kind of liked it. My favorite thing about this film is that unlike all the other Pixar sequels and like all the other Pixar films in general, this film is not trying to make you cry. For once, Pixar has made just an entertaining film, just a straight up, entertaining animated film. I’m really glad they did, too, because I really didn’t see The Incredibles going in any other direction than just being simply entertainment, because we’ve already seen the emotional sides of them as much as we can see. So there really wasn’t any more room for it to go. They could have taken the direction of focusing more on Vialet and Dasch and as they grow up and some of the things that go along with that. But we all know that would have ended up really cheesy. And Orangy. They do focus a little bit on Vialet and some of her boy problems, but not to an extent where it ruins the movie. The main focus of this film was clearly just to make a good fun summer movie, and they accomplished that. Now, as for the animation, the animation is really good. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an amazing looking film. It’s just very different compared to what you would expect from Pixar. It seems like this whole time they’ve been trying to get more into realism and trying to make things look realer and realer.

The short film that played before this is a great example, which, by the way, is one of the better shorts that Pixar has made in years. I hope they take note and make more short and sweet films like this one. But anyways, the animation in this film is super simple. It’s it’s not trying so hard to make this look like real people. I mean, the hair is is very realistic, but everything else feels so minimal it doesn’t feels too complex. Too much going on in the frame, which I honestly really like. They took a more vibrant approach. Instead of focusing on the details in the face, they they chose to make the backgrounds in the settings and the colors pop more and more. And by doing so, it was an incredibly visually appealing film to look at. I think they finally realized that the only thing that realism in animation accomplishes is a brief wow, look at how real that looks when in reality what should matter is how good something looks, how entertaining it is to watch something. Scenes that pop out include the motorcycle and train scene with Miss is incredible. That scene was awesome. And then you got the screen, Slava’s apartment with the bright, flashy cage thing. I thought that looked awesome. I don’t know. I think this might be my favorite Pixar film.

Visually, I say that with each film because they get better at what they do visually with each film. But this one really stood out to me. Another thing I really enjoyed about this movie is that it is essentially the same film as the first one, but it’s also somehow not predictable. They have the secret villain and the ending that assumes a third film will come out and they have a bunch of the same stuff as the beginning of the film. But it’s not like throughout this thing I was like, oh, I bet this is going to happen next. In fact, I actually didn’t really know who the villain was going to be. They set it up so that there were maybe three possible people that could be the villain and you never really knew exactly who it was going to be. And lastly, this film is very pro feminist. Without trying too hard to be pro feminist, it addresses motherhood’s parental roles. It has a lot of great social commentary that isn’t being shoved down the viewer’s throat. It gets these ideas across without trying too hard or covering up the story. As for what I don’t like, basically the first act, the first thirty minutes, twenty minutes or so of this thing. Not a good start. No, I thought the voice acting was was really bad, the voice acting and the dialogue just in general. It was just it was bad.

I thought we were going to go with your mother. Trampolining. It was like something out of a bad video game. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was like actual dialogue pulled from the video game for this film. It was oh, it just didn’t feel natural. It felt like they were like splicing up audio because they missed things when they originally recorded it. It just something about it did not work for me at all. A lot of the dialogue also just made me feel kind of stupid, like they assumed the viewer didn’t know certain things when it was clearly pretty obvious certain things were happening. I get that it’s a kids movie I have to explain to them. But I thought the first one didn’t have these kind of flaws and still managed to work for all ages. On top of that, I’m not a huge fan of the. Superheroes, I’m super glad that they weren’t a key part of the rest of the film, that they weren’t like vital characters because they really weren’t that interesting. They felt kind of unnecessary and not very memorable. I guess they worked in the context of the story. But in the grand scheme of things, I don’t think they needed to be there. And I would say my biggest problem with the film is the overall voice and tone of it. What I loved about the original film is that it stood alone. It had this unique voice and style to it that no film even then really compared to The Incredibles is such a unique superhero family.

And they and they have a lot going for them that they didn’t need to adapt to other animated styles and other forms of dialogue or anything like that. Whereas this one really just felt like an animated film that came out in twenty eighteen. I mean, one of the first lines in this thing is Vialet going, hi, this isn’t what you think it. And that’s just kind of the way that a 20 something in twenty eighteen would deliver something. It’s not something that The Incredibles would say. I don’t know. I feel like it’s kind of hard to get this idea across. But if you if you walk into any like college campus and here the way they talk, that’s kind of how everyone sounds in this film. It’s just very BuzzFeed, if that makes any sense. I do have a few minute pics with the film, but they didn’t have an effect on my viewing experience, so why bother bringing them up? There was one scene in this thing with Mr. Incredible and Vialet, where they were in their home and it was night and the resolution was really bad, like it was clearly a mistake. I had seen this twice. I saw it once in IMAX and I saw it another time today just to double check if it was just a problem with the projector.

But no, it wasn’t just the projector. It was in both screenings. It was it was kind of embarrassing. But I don’t know, that’s just me. But overall overall, I enjoyed it. I was really not expecting to like this. I did not like the trailer. It put a bad taste in my mouth. But at the end of the day, it’s a fun film that that I enjoyed watching a ton. It’s certainly not a masterpiece like the original, but it’s entertaining. And this is this is basically what I would have wanted out of an incredible sequel. If you’re going to put this in the context of Pixar, other films, definitely not one of the stronger ones, but as an animated film, it’s pretty great. It does a lot of things in a very interesting way, and it definitely leaves the viewer wanting more. I don’t know, in the grand scheme of things, this film did not need to happen. But there was so much hype and there’s so much love for The Incredibles that, of course, they had to make another one. And I think they definitely took the right route. All that being said, I’m going to give The Incredibles to a four out of five. Thank you guys so much for watching. And I hope you guys enjoyed The Incredibles, too. And if you haven’t seen it yet, make sure to go check it out and don’t don’t see tag on it.

Go home no matter what the fuck I’m talking about. No, no. My fault. No matter what time of year when the clown.
