Full-text transcript of The Expendables 2 review:
[00:00:10] Everybody, Jim, here with a review of The Expendables two in a nutshell, the movie finds The Expendables getting betrayed while on a mission overseas. One of their own gets brutally killed and then they set out for bloody retribution. The Expendables two is much better than the original. And it’s exactly the movie that you were hoping the first film would be technically if you were to go by the book. It’s not a particularly well-made movie. There’s a lot of dopey scenes, unintentionally funny moments during dramatic scenes, but it’s a lot of fun, a lot of great action stuff. Pretty much an action lover’s delight. Chuck Norris’s appearance in the film is hilarious. Arnold Schwarzenegger, on the other hand, seems a little rusty, both in the action and his comedic timing seems a little off. He has, after all, been away from the screen for a few years. The real standout here is Jean-Claude Van Damme is the villain plays a bad guy named John Vaillant. Yes. Basically, his name is Johnny Villain. He’s great as a sleazy, bad guy in the scenes with Sly Stallone or some of the best in the film, The Action. The movie is non-stop and kick ass throughout from the team’s opening rescue mission to the climactic airport battle that has all the cast in action. The Expendables two really does feature the Mount Rushmore of action stars. It’s like The Avengers, but for all the 80s action heroes for the people grew up with those guys, it works as a great nostalgia trip. And if you didn’t, it’s still a fun action movie and a great capper to this summer again, is going to give The Expendables two seven point five by the 10.
