Full text transcript of the film review of Kingsman:

Hey, guys, it’s Mariana, and today I’m going to talk about Kingsman The Secret Service, which is a movie that came out this past weekend, and I really, really liked it. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by this movie because it is coming out in the middle of February and we don’t normally get really good movies at this time of year. I usually just generally avoid movie theaters until at least the spring. But I did have kind of high hopes for it because it’s directed by Matthew Vaughn, who also directed Kick Ass the first movie and X-Men First Class, which are both films I really, really enjoyed. So I had kind of mixed feelings going into this. And like I said, I was pleasantly surprised. This movie also is starring Colin Firth, which we all know who that is, Taryn Edgerton, who is somebody I’ve never seen before. And apparently it’s his first feature film. Correct me if I’m wrong. He was really, really good in the movie. He plays a character named EXI. I will talk about him a little bit later. Also, Samuel L. Jackson plays Valentine, who is the villain in this film. And there is one more actress whose name I can’t remember. She plays a gazelle who is his kind of assistant. He’s she’s the evil lady in this film. And I will put her name down below because I’m sorry, I can’t remember the name of this actress, but I have never seen her before.

This is a spy action comedy type of film. The best way I can describe it is if you take kick ass and then you take a James Bond movie and you put them together, you get Kingsman the Secret Service and it is definitely a good thing. And it worked out for the best. The film revolves around a young man named EXI, who is a son of a former Kingsmen. And what a Kingsman is, is essentially a secret agent. We’ll just leave it at that. And he was kind of raised by the streets. He didn’t have the most amazing upbringing. He didn’t have the most present mother, from what it looks like. And he finds himself competing for a spot of another. Kingsman Colin Firth, on the other hand, is one of the king’s men, and he takes an interest in Excel because he used to know his father used to work with his father and he has a personal connection to this young man. And then we have Samuel L. Jackson playing Valentine, who is a villain plotting against the world as villains normally do. But he’s quite a hilarious villain because he has this ridiculous lisp, which you have probably seen in the trailer, which kind of took me out of it for quite a while. I can’t say that I was on board with the list, but somewhere in the middle of the movie, I got used to it and it was fine.

But he is a pretty comical type of villain. As I’ve said earlier, I really, really enjoyed this movie. It had a lot of fun, crazy action, but it was also quite funny. I did not expect it to be as funny as it was. And there are a lot of laugh out loud moments where everybody in the audience was just cracking up. What I also really liked about this movie is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. The creators knew what they were making and they weren’t trying to put any kind of really crazy drama in it. That’s completely unnecessary. They didn’t try to put any really serious moments in. This is just fun and it’s meant to be fun and it comes off as fun. And that’s just that I thought this movie was really well made and really well shot. I thought there were a couple of moments where the CGI got a little obvious, but nothing that really took me out of the movie. I thought the pacing was good. I didn’t think it was too long or too short. There were some lighter moments. There were some intense moments where you’re genuinely concerned for the characters. And I thought it all kind of made sense as a movie. It felt cohesive. That being said, I do think that this movie may not be for everybody just because if you’re easily offended by swearing or violence, I think you may not enjoy it as much as I did.

I’m not easily offended by those things in movies, and I did take it as a comedy, but I can definitely see how some people might be bothered by it. So let me know if you saw it and you thought it was a little bit too much. The biggest issue that I had with this movie is that there wasn’t enough character development. There were two characters in particular who I really wanted to know more about, but I don’t think there was any time for character development and it just didn’t happen. One of them is Valentine, who is Samuel L. Jackson’s character. Even though you know why he’s doing what he’s doing, you never really get to find out how he got there or what his other sides of personality are. But the biggest one for me was his helper, Gizelle, who is the girl with the blades instead of her feet. She was a really interesting character to look at, but you never get to find out what her deal was. Why was she helping him? For some reason, I had a feeling there was back story, but it just never made it into a film. I’m not sure, but I really, really wanted to know more about her and I never got to find out who she is.

Overall, I thought this was a really fun film to watch, if you’re looking for some crazy, exciting action. I would definitely check this one out, even though there’s quite a bit of violence and swearing in this movie that kind of comes with the territory. I mean, we’re talking about Matthew Vaughn here who made kick ass, OK, there have to be some expectations. I thought all of the actors did a really great job on this movie. Nobody really felt out of place or anything. The movie looked great. I would give it four out of five stars. It’s definitely a solid fun action movie. And if you’re a fan of action, you should definitely check this one out. So that’s it for this review. Thank you so much for watching. Let me know if you went to see Kingsman this past weekend and what did you think of it or if you’re planning to see it while it’s still in theaters? I certainly think that you should. I hope you guys enjoyed this video. And don’t forget to give it a thumbs up if you did enjoy it. Also share it. And don’t forget to subscribe to my channel. If you haven’t already done so, I would really appreciate that. I hope you’re having an awesome day and I will see you soon in my next video.
