Full text transcript of video movie review of Darkest Hour

What’s up, Snowville, another review here. I know you love those split screens, but we’re not doing today day.

It’s my show. We patch things up, apparently. Look at that again. OK, OK. The other do it in the old school. Yeah, you can. Oh, no, no. This would be like a political thing I’m saying.

But then you have to point to something just off camera. We just cut a ribbon right.

It tiny hands. This is the review for Darkest Hour and it stars Gary Oldman as the great prime minister himself, Winston Churchill. And this is a very interesting story altogether.

I’m a World War Touba. You are. And so history kids, I do want to get it. And what I wanted to see, I wanted to learn more about Churchill. I knew I mean, obviously, you knew that he had done some great things. But to what extent and to what extent did he have to go through in order to become the prime minister? And how much support did he have?

Well, what’s interesting about this movie to me anyway, is the performance of Gary Oldman, Winston Churchill, that he’s a lock. Right? It’s a lot. It’s it’s a double date.

Lewis is Lincoln situation where you not only are you playing a historical figure that we are aware of what what their deeds were, but but you just become that person so much to where it’s the man who literally disappears into the role of Winston Churchill. And it’s actually a lot harder of a it’s not a lot harder than what what, what, what Lincoln was. But we don’t have, like, Lincoln on record talking so much. But we have all these classic Winston Churchill speeches. He’s motivational things. So for Gary Oldman to embody that, when we already know the audio of the real man’s voice, I thought it was just a magnificent performance, certainly worthy of a statue.

I don’t disagree with that. But I think what the harder thing is, too, is any time you deal with prosthetics and it’s time you because you can run into a Jaguar about I was going to say it wasn’t Jaguar as much. It was Armie Hammer, Six Flags, old man. That that was that was the worst part. And it’ll take you right out of it. But this just looked like Winston Churchill and it was the bottom. And the other thing is that Lily James should be given some credit here, too, because she is somewhat like what is his muse throughout the movie? And so basically what the events of this film are, this is what you should be. This is the one thing that I would tell people because I I’ve read or heard some people really well.

The movie itself is just OK. But it’s the performance of old men. A lot of people said that the performance of Ollman that you go for. I don’t necessarily disagree with that. However, I was fascinated by it again, because I wanted to know exactly what it took for Churchill to how he got in power, the relationship with him and King George, which I thought was very phenomenal. Ten minutes riffing, raised so many iterations, so many iterations that we’ve seen him I and he did. And he doesn’t overdo the stutter. It’s there, but it’s not overdone. And there was just there was a lot and status from from Game of Thrones was and was in it as well.

Yeah, it’s good. I like seeing these Game of Thrones actors pop up and then it is it’s Kristen Scott Thomas is also really good in this movie, too. Yes. So but what you were saying is that the rise to power as far as Churchill being a prime minister is it’s been a rise. There’s kind of a push into power when he because there was a treaty on the table that was very massaged by Nazi Germany. And it’s like to see the way that he was able to not only stand against Germany, but also stand against even some people within his own party. I an a party. Yeah. To watch all of that play itself out. I don’t want to get away with you.

You’re not like I got one thing I got to give away. The one thing I’ve got to go with my careful. No I’m not going. It’s in the trailer OK.

But it’s also you get a great Gary Oldman yell and it’s so fitting you don’t negotiate with a tiger when your head is in its mouth.

It’s such a great line. It’s such an amazing Gary Oldman moment. Famous line and. Yeah, yeah, it’s just an immortal beloved. It is just such a great the way that he’s able to just take the Churchill dialogue, make it real once again. You know what else this movie really made me do is it made me appreciate Dunkerque even more.

It’s it’s a nice accompaniment to seeing Dunkirk and you see more of the war aspect of it. Make want to see things, right?

Yeah. Because it made you understand a little bit more about Dunkirk and understand exactly how detrimental that battle was and what was at stake during that and how much Churchill had to do with that. So because of that, it made me like Duncker even more than I did and it made me like Churchill or excuse me, or darkest hour a little bit more because of that.

Yeah, I got to think of which movie I would put higher as far as like the top ten at the end of the year if it’s done correctly.

So I like I love Duncker. And if you aren’t interested in this stuff, it might lose you. It might lose you. And it doesn’t. And not just because he’s he’s he’s engaging, there’s no doubt about it. But the subject matter could lose you. It didn’t to me. But I would understand if someone said, like, yeah, I just got kind of I’m not a real history guy. I didn’t really care as much.

I would understand that if we don’t learn from history, we’re doomed to repeat it. This isn’t some phantom thread bullshit where we got to watch a guy so close for two hours. This is World War Two. This is Prime Minister Churchill.

I know that it is not. Yeah, well, I’m just telling you that not everybody is going to have. Is that where you got four and a half? I’m not too far behind, I got four point four just because I don’t want to agree with you, but we just pretty much did.

But it is it’s a really good movie. It’s a great performance. But I do understand if you’re not interested in the stuff. I am. He is.

So there you go. All right, Romeoville, what do you think? What’s on over there? You should commented in liked to that unsubscribe, of course. And now we’ll go over there to our latest episode of the show down here. You have a movie review over here.
