Well, when I’m back in here and I’ve got to give you all this movie review for Black Panther, it’s it has to happen for the coach. Some of you guys follow me on Twitter. You all know exactly how I feel already. Kind of. But I’ll go into a little bit more detail about it, what I liked, what I didn’t like, and I’ll give you my final verdict. So let’s just go ahead and just let’s talk about black and let’s fucking go

Elysium stars Matt Damon as a genius janitor whose true potential has not been tapped yet until Robin Williams comes along and guides him to the right path in life. None of that’s true. I just wanted to reference Good Will hunting. We’ll talk about Elysium after the intro. This movie takes place in 2001 54 and a tattered and torn earth, and you have Matt Damon, he’s an ex-con in this movie. You know, he’s kind of been a criminal in his past, but he’s looking to make a change. His whole goal in life was always to get to the space station. Up in the sky is basically like a hamster wheel up in the sky, spinning around in circles for the rich. Got to be a billionaire to have a spot on Elysium. This movie directed by Neill Blomkamp, who was supposed to direct the first ever Halo movie. Could you imagine that, by the way, that guy’s visual style, I mean, it looks like Halo when I watch both of his movies, District nine and Elysium, they both have very reminiscent qualities of Halo. His style really carries over to both movies. And they also have a lot more in common than just that visual style, that futuristic sci fi grittiness. The both kind of almost share a lot of the same plot points. OK, both movies focus on two very diverse classes of people. You know, you have District nine where you have the prongs and then you have the humans and then Elysium. You have the people who live on Earth, the slums and the upper class, rich people, the uppity assholes who live on Elysium and in both movies, these conflicting classes of people don’t get along.

They don’t understand each other. They don’t want to live with each other. There’s no harmony between these people. They just want to stay separate and they don’t like each other at all. I got to wave my arms. I’m all hopped up on an energy drink and I just feel like I got to do jumping jacks. Anyway, in both movies, you have the main actor and they both have an obstacle to overcome and it has to be done in a very timely fashion. And there’s a lot of other little comparisons I could make. But it’s getting late. I want to make some hot wings, but the main comparison is good. Guys in both movies need to get off the planet Earth and Elysium. They want to get up to Elysium, the space station in the sky. And in District nine, they want to get up to the the spaceship floating above their slums. All right. I’m a little hopped up on energy drinks right now, and it’s getting late. I’m getting a little bit wired like I want to kick my legs. You know what? Let’s ruin the professionalism of this review. If it as if there was some and I’m going to take you off the tripod, it’s feeling a little bit static. I don’t like it right now. And I’m taking you with me. I’m holding you in my hand. And we’re going to talk about this movie as we walk circles around my basement.

Anyway, the movie stars Matt Damon, a huge fan of Matt Damon. Well, I’ve always enjoyed him. His character in this movie as a character doesn’t really progress. I mean, there are redeeming qualities that he kind of acquires throughout the movie.

And you have he’s kind of like the protagonist in the movie and the antagonist of the movie. There’s a few main ones you have. First, you have Jodie Foster, who in this movie plays like a cold hearted, rich, uppity bitch with this weird accent, like she’s the only one in this movie that has this accent. I think Jodie Foster just kind of made it up as she was going.

And she’s kind of typical cliché. And then you have the other one. Who’s the bad ass? Terlato Copley’s character in this movie does play a rogue agent and he’s kind of a lunatic going into this movie. I was really looking forward to that gritty, futuristic sci fi movie. Neill Blomkamp, I love District nine. You know, I loved everything about that movie. It starts off with that documentary style for the like the first fifteen minutes you’re like and then it gets passed and it becomes phenomenal in every way possible. And that’s kind of how this movie felt for me, almost. But the opposite. The first twenty to thirty minutes of the movie, I loved everything about it. And then everything that took place on Elysium, the actual space station up in the sky, I thought it was very bland, very clichéd, very one dimensional. And I thought that would be the most interesting parts of the movie. But, you know, pretty much the daily activities in the beginning of the movie with Matt Damon going through his life and kind of just trying to get ahead and get past his criminal history, I thought that was pretty much the best part about this movie. I could have watched the whole movie just about that. I didn’t need the big space station up in the sky, the CGI, the special effects, all the great in this movie. No complaints there.

But I will say his shaky cam work in this movie went a little too far. Sometimes they start having these fight scenes and you want to see what’s going on. And I understand having a little bit of shaky cam to kind of make the scene more intense and get the audience into it. But the camera literally is doing this and then it’ll shake and then they’ll throw a punch and then it cuts to another camera angle. It’s shaking even more and then it goes back and forth and it’s blurring.

And I just found it very distracting and it really took me out of the scenes. I literally was trying to focus on what was happening and I just hurt my eyes to watch it. It was like Paul Greengrass times twenty five.

Now, another thing I really appreciated about this movie was it was rated R and they went for that R rating. You know, this movie I remember it waiting a while to actually determine which rating was going to be, because my theory on that would be they were in editing and they’re like, can we get away with the PG 13 rating? And then by the end of the movie they’re like, no, that would kill everything that we have going for it.

And as I continue to get the rest of this point across, I’m going to sit down on my couch. Yeah, this is just one of those videos anyway. You know, I really enjoyed the violence and the blood in this movie, and I think it added to it, you know, the gruesomeness, the violence. I’m an advocate of violence in movies. You know, when you put it in there, it makes sense. And this is one of those movies where the violence really does make sense. And it kind of I don’t know, there’s one scene towards the end. I’m not spoiling anything for you, but it was really cool, I mean, it was just go check the movie out, the facial damage, it’s pretty awesome.

By the way, I kind of find Jodie Foster hot in this movie. I know. That’s weird. I’m probably the only one. But so overall, I’m going to give it lithium a B minus. You know, the movie was a fun, enjoyable time, though. A lot of things throughout the plot kind of took it down a tone or notch or whatever you want to call it here and there. But I think overall that sci fi grittiness, futuristic aspect was done. Right. OK, so that review got a little bit weird. I had to do circles in my basement. I’m still a little bit hopped up on those energy drinks anyway. Guys, that’s my take on a lithium. Let me know what yours is down below or let me know what your favorite futuristic sci fi movie of all time is. Actually, you know what? I’m kind of in the mood to watch this now. So anyway, guys, thanks for watching and I’ll see you next time.
